This holiday season is blessing us with the opportunity to visit family and friends. Leaving Stormy Petrel on a mooring in St. Augustine for a week allowed us to visit Pensacola and Kathy’s mom and her brothers. Now in Stuart, one of our favorite anchorages in FL, puts us near Kathy’s Uncle and Aunt and our friends Ed and Patty. Then it’s on to Miami to visit Ron’s brother and family just after Christmas. It’s great when we can sail close to their hometowns.

Thanksgiving in St. Marys was lots of fun meeting many cruisers and hearing their stories.  The feast was scrumptious.

Lucky is Kathy’s favorite word. Every day we seem to have the best luck with wind, current, weather, and the sights.  We’ve been doing some great sailing in the ICW especially with the recent north winds.  We sailed 8 hours down the Indian River with the spinnaker going 4-6 knots and under several fixed bridges!   We filled up with fuel in Savannah Nov. 23 and haven’t needed fuel since. There are so many dolphins these days gracing us with their antics; we are always on the lookout.  They love to swim alongside the boat or ride our bow wave with some jumping completely out of the water! The other day we were delighted to see a rare sight – a flock of pink flamingos flew right in front of our boat to land on a small island near Cape Canaveral.   Some stops we made along the way included Cumberland Island GA, St. Augustine, Fort Matanzas, Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach, and Cocoa.

Check out the 2013 Photos page I’ve added some new ones!
